Two Beginner Courses started. We welcomed a group of 73 beginner students, all managers from one of Vietnam’s biggest hospitality companies. Swami Swaroopananda is the acharya (spiritual director) of Sivananda yoga Centres and Ashrams on the West Coast of the United States, in the Middle East, and in the Bahamas, and is one of the foremost disciples of Swami Vishnudevananda. The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, in the tradition of Swami Sivananda, practise a yoga of synthesis, which integrates yoga’s rich culture of a multifaceted approach to mastering body, energy, mind and attitude, with knowledge, understanding, and mystical experience of peace. The mind may try to resist and say: "I want it now". Boost your immune system by practicing all paths of Yoga; feel healthier and stronger in both body and mind. The four classical paths of yoga consist of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, What is Sivananda yoga Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga. The popular Yoga Foundation course started its next series immediately. The SYHET module 3 course was completed by the end of January. We celebrated the end of the module with a special dinner and "graduation" ceremony. The preparations and decorations in the Centre for the upcoming special programme were completed and registrations continued to come in.
The regular classes in the Centre continued running smoothly with students all improving little by little. On the 2nd of January we reopened the NY Centre in the afternoon to begin the first classes of 2018! In January we started morning Beginners’ course with good number of students. Also a meditation course and a Yoga 1 weekend course started, both with good attendance. Swami Vishnudevananda’s five points of yoga - proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, positive thinking and meditation - are a well-proven method to rid the system of accumulated tamas. We offered a Hip Opening workshop and a Positive Thinking Course. The SYHET course was taught with translation into Vietnamese and Japanese. Special guest teachers were Lila Lolling, teaching online from the US, and a doctor from the local Da Lat medical school who taught classes on back pain. We also held a study group with the topic of "Asanas Beyond the Physical", taught by Mokshapriya.
We also saw the completion of the Ayurveda Therapist course, with 8 new therapists completing their study and practice. Both the SYHET and Ayurveda Therapist courses continued steadily. We gave a Shirsasana workshop, two courses on Meditation, plus a Conquest of the Anger workshop. Swami Sivadasananda gave a much appreciated teachers workshop and a series of themed asana classes which filled the halls to the brim. Staff focused on bringing rooms, halls and kitchens back to everyday condition and the Centre slowly returned to its regular rhythm. Massages and stretches deep and superficial back muscles. Radha was at the Yoga Ranch so Shambhu, a senior teacher at the Centre, lead the Sunday evening Satsang, on the topic of New Year Resolutions for Sadhana. Swami Paramananda and Sankara Nambhoodri arrived from the Yoga Ranch to lead a week program. Lead a simple life. The knowledge of how we create karma allows us to realise that we live our limited and separated life increasing our karmic debts as day by day.
We were really blessed to be trained in mental flexibility, which allows us to quickly adapt, adjust, and accommodate while the situation changes around us. Om Namah Sivaya. Swami Adiparashaktiananda left to Vietnam for 2 weeks and Swami Vasishtananda left to attend the celebrations in Nassau for 10 days. Swami Vishnudevananda was born in Kerala. On 20th, Gopanji and family went to Kerala for 3 days, to attend one family function. One of our staff, Sathyamji went to his hometown due to some personal work, rejoining us later.
