Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at one time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapons and armor. This can be accomplished by various methods such as using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. In addition there are many items that can be reforged, which could increase their stats.

Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the primary method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer an overall bonus.

There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide a variety of benefits, from increasing the speed of an item upgrader mod's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.

Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components needed for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increase. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a vendor, or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade items for example, an insignia or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with a suffix upgrade. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective at conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs can also increase the retention of a message by evoking an experience of familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph increases the value of a stat by certain range. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the item you are enchanting.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item then you'll need to save it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

The addition of a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for those who take lots of damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a new random affix, which is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can be used to boost weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they are still able to be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. The amount is determined based on the item's rarity and its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, however, players must be aware that it will reduce the overall ilvl the weapon by the number of rerolls needed in order to increase it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective for Diadems and rings, which have no other options for raising ilvls.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more fair to let people pay for it with money or food items that allows players to modify their builds without a lot of time and energy. The developers have no plans to introduce paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include an ability to change races in the future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of upgrading a given stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. When this is done the new item will keep its iLevel, but will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded item type.

When you upgrade items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances where a higher or more special roll could occur. Additionally, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type, so should you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an exceptional item type it has a chance to achieve a higher iLevel.

Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to reach the next level.

If you're fortunate the upgraded item upgrader kit will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level though. Generally speaking the effect of upgrading is increased by a value of +3.

The iLevel will also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance, an item that is upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an exceptional one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
